Lion Forensic respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we deal with personal information about clients, visitors to our website and other members of the public.

Compliance with privacy laws

Lion Forensic is bound by the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Australia) and other privacy laws. At times, Lion Forensic may handle personal information relying on exemptions under privacy laws, for example in relation to:

  • employee records;
  • related bodies corporate; and
  • providing services to state or territory authorities.

Any permitted handling of personal information under such exemptions takes priority over this Privacy Policy to the extent of any inconsistency.

Collecting your information

We only collect personal information that is necessary for our functions and activities. We collect personal information when we provide our services to you, or a client requires us to collect information on their behalf. If you are a client, or employed by a client, we usually collect personal information such as your business contact details, job title or position and your expertise and interests. Where relevant, we may ask you for other information (for example your membership of professional associations or boards or, in rare cases, financial information). Generally, we try to collect personal information directly from you, however sometimes we may collect personal information from publicly available records, information brokers and third parties.

If we are not provided with personal information that we request, we may not be able to fully provide our services to you.

We generally only collect personal information from this website when it is provided voluntarily by you – for example, when you fill in a form to subscribe to our publications. When you visit this website or download information from it, Google, Inc. (Google) and our Internet Content Host (ICH) makes a record of your visit and records the following information:

  • your Internet Protocol (IP) address;
  • your domain name, if applicable; and
  • the date and time of your visit to the website.

Google and our ICH also collect information such as the pages our users access, the documents they download, links from other sites they follow to reach our website, and the type of browser they use. However, this information is anonymous and is only used for statistical and website development purposes.

How we use and disclose your information

We may use and disclose your personal information:

We may share your information with other Lion Forensic entities and firms associated with Lion Forensic overseas. This may involve sending your personal information overseas. Lion Forensic may also disclose your information to service providers (including organisations that assist us by providing archival, auditing, client relationship management, professional advisory, mail house, delivery, technology and security services), agents and contractors from time to time to help us to provide our services to you.

Lion Forensic is bound by strict professional obligations of confidentiality. Lion Forensic will continue to treat and protect information we receive (including any personal information) in accordance with these obligations.

Use of cookies

A cookie is a small message given to your web browser by our web server. The web browser stores the message in a text file, and the message is then sent back to the server each time the web browser requests a page from the server.

We make limited use of cookies on this website. We use cookies to measure usage sessions accurately, and to gain a clear picture of which areas of the sites attract traffic. We also use cookies to improve the functionality of our website.
